A Soul
I don’t know if I’ve ever
felt entirely safe.
With most, I am a dark lighthouse—
afraid of showing my light,
even if it shipwrecks me.
I keep on hoping
to meet on the horizon, a soul
with whom I don’t need to be whole—
a soul that won’t crash or flee
when I’m close to breaking—
a soul that accepts my state—
whether I brighten up the world,
or simply flicker out.
