Palestine
PALESTINE Why do we still hold our own friends supreme? Why do we look with distaste At a people whose only crime is to be Of a different religion and race? Why do we turn off the news when it matters? Why do we let it persist? This turmoil and terror, This incessant horror Of people who can’t co-exist? Yet they can. If you go there. See Muslims, Jews, Christians Living together in peace. So why does it linger, This critical finger That points to a war that won’t cease? Is it our faith? Is it our colour? Is it a matter of race? For humanity’s sake, Give me a break. Let people share the same space. There are rights. There are wrongs. On both of the sides Of this conflict of history’s creation. It is not we don’t care. It is just that we stare Unknowing. Un caring. Un human. Jerusalem longs to be left in peace. A place of faiths and of fears. Where solutions aren’t found, They aren’t sought on the ground… They are teased into conflict’s frontiers From the best that man seeks, We’ve created techniques For destroying the prospect of hope. So a child that is born In Palestine’s dawn Lives forever society’s trope.
