Leaning Cross
In the woods behind my house. I stumbled upon a cross some how. This cross stood tall like the trees. It looked as if it had a lean. I ran home to tell my grandmother. She smiled real big. You've found my brother. I looked up at her very confused. You mean all this time you already knew? We sat together on her bed. And talked about her brother, who's dead. We used to live in this same house. We would go for walks, after church all around. He found a bible in the spot where it stands. That leaning cross, he built that weekend. We prayed daily in the woods, until he lost his right foot. He was placed in a wheelchair. He got depressed. He just didn't care. After work one long evening. He was gone. I could not find him. Wasn't at home or in the yard outside.I found him in the woods. Standing in the sunlight. His eyes were closed. Hat off his head. Over his heart, on his chest. The other hand placed on the front. Holding his weak body up. It was like a picture painted so perfectly. He prayed about him leaving, He's so sorry. He comitted suicide. I watched him take his own life. I asked God to forgive my brothers soul. Let him fly with the angels he already knows. Before he pulled the trigger that day. He said I love you, see you at the gates. Since then I often come to see. My brother praying against the cross that leans.
