When Sky Turned Nonchalant
Not ones to ever be ascetic, we lay bronzed and brazen on the beach that day, our legs sprayed by the shallow tide of sea as we engaged in passionate love play. The sun, which shared our ardor at the start, turned humble suddenly, and then the sky seemed nonchalant, as if it had no heart. No brightness would the furtive sun belie. Although the shore had grown a little cold, my love decided to take one last swim. He jumped the waves, so filled with joy - so bold! Then one huge wave rolled in and swallowed him! Recalling it, I stand now by this tide. How gray the sky had turned when my love died. Written Jan. 26, 2018 For John Hamilton's "English Sonnet Lost Love" Contest Using words: 1. Furtive 2. Nonchalant 3. Humble 4. Shallow 5. Ascetic
