Lingering
Lingering Death, it lingers, just out of sight Like a cold, lonely shadow in the dark of the night We want to ignore it, but try as we might Death, it still lingers. Death, it lingers, and we turn our face In hopes that it's wrong and not bound for our place But, alas, there it stands, in its own little space Death, it still lingers. Death, it lingers, and can't be outrun Finally arriving like a last setting sun Whether young or old when our time is done Death, it still lingers. Death, it lingers, but make no mistake There's nothing to add and nothing to take When Death comes a'knocking and us it does shake Death, it still lingers. Death, it lingers, as we live our life And it comes to remind us it's sharp as a knife As one day it will pull us from all of the strife Death, it still lingers. Death, it lingers, but don't live in fear Because it's always around and always quite near It just there to remind us of what's the most dear As Death, it still lingers
