Come Back Moses
Come Back Moses Come back Moses, from yesteryear, and do my bidding once again. Go thee down and plumb the hatred festering in the hearts of men. See the caverns in their eyes, their steel and glass alluring, taste the bile of their rejection, mark their idols, yet enduring. Hark their glib words from pulpits flowing, know their hypocrisy, coldly lent; read the irony in their gospel, breathe the maelstrom of their discontent. Ancient servant and voice of mine, I gave thee once a scripted stone and sent thee down the mountainside to guide them near to heaven's throne, Since, Moses, that millennium woefully have I sunk to dwell on the dark river of Acheron -- the love of man has been my hell. It is whispered Moses among men, that God is dying -- it is no lie. Go thee down now and say this truth: out of pity for man shall I die.
