A Poet Cursed
It’s an enduring strain, and a constant fight, to remain focussed, when failing sight, defeats my writing of poetic lines! Frustration oft rules, when I see few signs, of what I’ve written, for all is blurred. Then angst prevails, with curses heard, as I look in vain to seek them out! That frustration rules, there is no doubt! Even though I’m inspired - my muse serves me well, when I wish to write, that’s when age does tell, and imposes restraints which I cannot ignore, surely a slew of plaints ensues, (of them I’ve a score), but I’m determined to write with skills once taught, or my poetic yen, would come to naught! Though advancing years, impose this restriction upon my poetic skill, I, despite my affliction. remain determined to follow the pleasure of writing poetry. This gift I treasure, is a firmly held conviction that writing verse, is truly a talent to enjoy. A handicap is a curse, but I’ll not capitulate! Should I let impairment win, and take the easy road, it would be a sin, so despite all, I’ll persevere. Although I must confess, deteriorating vision, does add further stress when using my computer. Nonetheless writing poetry offers so many rewards, it’s the perfect tool for me. But how, ask I, do I overcome this curse, when I have need to compose, and write my rhyming verse? To deny me my small talent: which I appreciate, is not what I would choose, nor an option I’ll debate! Of all life’s treasures, nothing compares with sight. Though mine begins to fade, and is no longer bright, I will persevere in writing poetry, in hopes that I, like Milton, can overcome this adversity. Rhymer. December 28th, 2017.
