Leaving
And the tear slid silently from her eye. He didn't care, he didn't ask why. She finished packing her meager lot remembering sadly all he'd forgot'. The door closed with a quiet click. This time, her decision, she'd make it stick. In a day or two , like both times before, he'd beg her to come home, to try once more. Only when she'd gone did he realize that he might have run out of "one more tries". He'd treated her cold, he'd treated her bad. He ignored the fact that he made her sad. Oh well, he thought, he'd just apologize and she'd come back and fall for his lies. But this time was different than the times before because he couldn't find her once she walked out the door. She wiped that tear from her eye. Didn't say a word , not even goodbye. Got on that bus headed far away to a new life and a brand new day.
