After Forever Foggy It Seems
After forever, have you forgotten our love - A love encircled with a turmoil ring? For i’m lost in a fog, swirling heavily - The child I carry inside of me. After forever, she sorts out the shapes. Some don’t quite fit into their holes, And the bearded man behind the glasses, Glances up from time to time. After forever, an eternity baffled with uncertainty. A ladder with rungs, weary and worn. Wondering why each one was necessary, I see the splinters in my hands and feet. My own cross seems too thick to embrace. I see each mirrored mistake, swimming in shame. The man in the chair sizes me up. After forever he spins in his chair - letting go. After forever, you’d think that I’d notice. I finally see his rosy eyes, his happiness. Champagne in his incomparable hands: “We all have this same initiation to heaven, my dear” After forever, I’m reminded that there was so much more. The tender feelings return to my child’s core. Those innermost, make me laugh with laughter bubbling, As I hug the one, no longer hidden, but in front of me. After forever twisting, turning, dreaming — I wake up to the warmth of you in my bed. You’re so peaceful while sleeping. My thoughts of you lofty and wistful. After forever, you wake up, Don glasses and a beard. Seems you’ve been dreaming, Of happily ever after too, my dear.
