You Hold the Power and Strength
As a child she her innocence was broken, lust had a way with words unspoken. She dreamed of ponies and girly stuff, not asking for a childhood so rough. If only happiness was a winning token. Older, she was pained from the assault, wishing the abuse would come to a halt. She knew not of love that brought security, but lived a life of horror and obscurity. For she felt it was all her fault. She never asked for anything but love, but received wounds from being shoved. She thought, “what is wrong with me?” Little did she know it wasn’t her, it was he. She dreamed of angels and white turtle doves. From age four up until age sixteen, she saw torment no girl should have seen. Until she met a man who saved her, her old life faded, cast out like a blur. On his trust she knew she could lean. Together they’d rise up and make aware, that there really are people who care. “May we all help those suffering in silence, find freedom from sexual violence.” Word got out fast, this help was rare. This is the time for absolute change, this world must completely rearrange. As a woman I feel it is a must, we need to turn to #metoo to trust. To the abusers we must be estranged. If you are being abused, please know, there are people who can help you let go. They can’t get away with what they’ve done, even though they feel as if they’ve won. YOU HOLD THE POWER AND STRENGTH…let it flow. #metoo Poetry Contest Debbi Guzzi December 7, 2017
