The Gambling Man
He fans his cards out with a poker face Going all in he hopes to win a straight He needs the dealer to pull out an ace He knows the score and he relies on fate He's sweating heavy from his neck and face He's done this far to many times of late The other players are still in this race He learned to play with Mam when very small Was weaned on cards and he can read a face He knows the hands and when the cards will fall There's none can beat him in this final chase Eyes dart like camera's with full recall Piano plays a tune by Santana His Cuban heeled boots tap the floor They beat a rhythm in the Cabana His whiskers twitch a tad he feels so sure He strikes a match and lights his Havana Then takes a puff before the final draw The money's stacked up and the bets are laid Two players fold their cards but one stays sure Dealer then turns over the ace of Spades He drops cigar ash then he smokes some more His straight beats every other hand that's played His Cuban boots are twitching on the floor Jane Shields (C)
