Once, When I Was Beautiful
Once, when I was beautiful, I was stunning, perfect to behold, When I was beautiful, inside I was dead, I was numb, barren, cold, Unable to feel things that mattered, Emotionally lost, I’d gone elsewhere, Socially, I was beautiful on the outside, But inside, well, I just didn’t care. I thought emotion was a gauge of how good I was, I assumed I was right, I thought I had to pose happy all the time, Every day and every dark night, I allowed others to choose my thoughts, And I thought feelings would kill, I thought feeling sad meant I lead a sad life, But that was all until, I dropped the façade, I threw that cold crutch of fake, Throwing all that I knew, And learnt about others, loved me for me, Didn’t judge, and then, I emotionally grew.
