Dawn's Glory
Dawn ached to be seen, Thus upon my goodbye, To you, Curiously…. I peeked at her The sun’s might hit my bitter eyes Where first I refused to see her In my hellish, seething cries Though she was soft, Insistent and kind How could I hate such a light, Radiating willingly upon my dark and dank existence? I wanted her to descend, So I may wallow in my risen hells So that I would have reason To stay forever inside I said goodbye To give her rise I prayed for breath to return to me For joy to ease in our lives For purpose to manifest In a spurring geyser of fruition This solstice of darkness shall flourish no more! I am pressed to excavate ancient depths for this source Of love that I have long rejected To embrace meaningless evenings of lament Yes—I loved your complexity But it was truth and serenity, And that eternity I loved more I said goodbye To give her rise To give her rise Not alone, But in my life Dawn’s glory Rooted in my very will To let go, Wonder, And be still
