The Darkness Inside
Deep inside, the darkness always hides, Way down deep, I fear it will always reside, most times it is denied, But it I will keep. Vast as an ocean yet black and bleak. You ask me what is wrong. But of this I will not speak. For if I did the talk would be too long. You may never see just how sad I can be. You will never know just how low I can go. You think you see the heart of me, But my tears seldom flow. Those times that you go, I start feeling real low. Why couldn’t you stay, Or else take me away. I didn’t see hope, Just a slippery slope. At the end of my rope, I could hardly cope. Though I knew you’d return. For your presence I yearn. You would think I would learn, What perseverance would earn. I saw you today, As if from far away. But my darkness I still hide, Forever to reside.
