Courage - the Will To Fight
We stood for years while you lived in our shadows. You looked up once in awhile as you passed by. Many would come to visit, but were always on the go, Just taking a picture as a memory to put aside. We were happy to provide jobs for the city. It was a privilege to be a part of your landscape. Our demise was a horrible blemish on humanity. On that September day, we simply had no way to escape. It’s hard to believe that it was eight years ago, When pure evil soared through the morning sky. There was a thundering noise crashing through the windows, Causing so much destruction; we didn’t have time to ask shy. The strength of our walls held for as long as they could, And we tried to wait for everyone to get free and clear. Heat from the burning fuel caused our metal to burn like wood, And the fire and smoke only added to the panic and fear. We stood in awe as many became selfless heroes, Putting aside their own fears to do what was right. We watched the city come together while the world froze. Out of the rubble came two men who had the will to fight. No only should the world remember those who were lost, But John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno, men who came out alive. This tragedy was a terrible lesson at such a horrific cost. It’s stories like theirs that show the world we’ll continue to thrive.
