I enjoy the warmth, but I don’t mind a little rain. I’ve spent my entire life in the middle of this park. I always wonder what it would be like beyond the trees. I’ve burrowed and made my home deep within the bark. Every day, I go for a long walk as I eat my leaves. The older I’ve gotten, the more tired I’ve become. So, I slow my heartbeat and prepare for months of sleep. I wrap myself in my new home and wait for summer to come. My body slowly changes, but the memories I keep. As I open my eyes to awake from such a long nap, I realize there’s something very different about me. The colors of my wings reflect as they begin to flap.
