The Raging River
The Raging River The storm had passed with cold flooding rain The river raged with the force of a racing train It rose above the covered rocks, splashed in the air It was more like a wild ocean on land everywhere It showed no mercy, would take anything away That dare to enter or fall in the aftermath this day Waterfalls spilled down cliffs on the side of the road Coming from high above, through the trees they flowed Mother Nature had dumped heavy water all around Fallen sticks, leaves and wires on saturated ground This fall storm brought winds that were fiercely strong Trees fell in the roaring gusts, like a loud broken song As the gray skies slowly moved and slipped away The river water still raged on, this unusual fall day Pale skies settled far away as if waning faintly to dim Shining on flattened leaves, with left over broken limbs People work to recover from floods and blocked roads Like the weary moving forward with a heavy load Night returns as the rain stops, with quiet reprieve To calm the raging river where peace can be retrieved Heidi Sands 10/31/17
