Recalling My Son's Graduation
With your diploma in hand, you stand smiling, one of one-hundred-thirty-four graduates of law from Willamette’s Class of 2009 to walk across that stage. I give a cheer. Your father, crouched near the front, is ready with the camera to capture this moment we have all awaited. It’s a moment of happiness for you to recall with satisfaction. For me, your dad, sister and nephew, here among the throng, it’s a time of great honor we’ll remember with pride. Your pathway to this moment has been arduous and long. We know how you have struggled. We know what you have lost. But also, we know what you have won. . . May you go forth into this world with that same spirit that won for you, with much hard work, this prize. May you always be honest, just, and strong. . . and may all the dreams you’ve dreamed at last be yours. (currently Jeremy is married with three kids and is serving as an assistant DA in Oregon. If he can stay with public service three more years, all that money borrowed for law school will be forgiven debt! Fingers crossed!!) Oct. 18, 2017 For the Parenthood Contest of Silent One
