Heart of Money
Darling, Don’t you know I can’t see, Past all those bills and stacks of green? You think I have a heart, Well, you’re in for a surprise. I’ve never had one; I always lied. So I’ll take my time to be yours. Cause I’ve got something in my eye, And I can’t see you clearly. The bill is staining my eyes green, And I’m in much too deep. And sorry, I’ve got money in my ears. I can’t hear a thing you say, When we walked on the same path, Yet I still couldn’t hear you call my name. The day you finally found me, My veins were green as blades of grass. You thought you could change the way I was, But I was too buried in my past. And darling, I’ve got money in my mouth. It’s why I never talk that much. People think I’m shy, but I, Just haven’t gotten the same green rush. And darling, I’ve got money in my heart. And it’s filled to the brim, So I can’t find any room for you in there. Our goals are worlds apart. Is “its fair?” A question we can ask, When we’ve pushed the good hearted Into the dark, Letting them all fall apart?
