Our Eyes Met, Almost
I see a beautiful woman out on the dance floor. She has an incredible smile and long dark hair. I should go say hello, but instead, I lean by the door. I’ll bet she doesn’t see me, or even know I’m there. I walk around a bit, then start a game of pool. Maybe she’ll come over and ask if she can play. She takes a break from dancing, and sits on a stool, Talking to her friends, but always looking my way. I take it as a signal and decide to buy her a drink, Hoping that she’ll ask me to join her at the bar. She turns away, which makes me begin to think She’s not interested, and that I’ve gone too far. I get up the courage, my fear has been replaced. I’m going to say hello; I hope that she won’t mind. After I introduce myself, she asks to touch my face So she can “see” what I look like, because…she’s blind. It never even occurred to me that she couldn’t see. I just saw a woman who looked good on the outside. After we talked, I knew she could mean much more to me. She has a big heart, and is just as beautiful on the inside. Each anniversary, we think back to that night, Knowing that in life, fate has a hand in so much. For me, I say that it was love at first sight. For her, she says that it was love at first touch.
