Coming Home
Coming Home Robert E. Welch, Sr. October 16, 2017 I bet my Mom and Dad have cried a million tears Not knowing how I’m doing or where I am. I’ve been here in the jungle for over 50 years I’m lying here in the jungle of Vietnam. So many times someone would call my name. “Please, oh please; please come on home”. Each time there were no answers just the same But no longer will my soul forever roam. Tell Mom & Dad I’m finally coming home, To be at rest in a place I’ve always known. I’m coming home, yes, I’m coming home, And laid to rest next to that marble stone. Family, friends and neighbors are all there to see, Six soldiers in quiet stature march on by And slowly fold the flag that was lying over me. Taps are played, but there are no tears to cry Tell Mom & Dad I’m finally coming home, To be at rest in a place I’ve always known. I’m coming home, yes, I’m coming home, And laid to rest next to that marble stone.
