The Golden Tree
They say that a tree is known by its fruit But there are many trees whose fruits are unknown Apple bearing pear and pear bearing apple And a cherry blossom tree cannot bear sunflowers "Keep out of trouble now" the disabled retired military officer greeted me "Where do you come from", Rick asked He was going for a walk with his wife in Eellanor 's park Rick sits on his walker because his feet were lamed and he used the occasion to make me feel ashamed He talked about his travels and his life in the military until his wife got impatient and walked with him to the bend I did not know why they crossed my path but mysterious things transpired in the park They went one way and I went the other way I walked slowly down to the amphitheater contemplation the gloominess of the moment rotten walnuts and leaves sunk in the ground and the stage hang bear with decaying fruits everywhere and dried leaves littered the entire surface There was no sign of breeze in the trees everything was still and the sound of chirping birds saturated the background I swept the stage clean and read a bible verse and held the book "what happened" up to the universe Then all of a sudden I noticed that I had spectators Rick and his wife came around and took up residence in the audience Something propelled me off the stage and I walked up to them I asked them if they had read the book; he was furious about the author and his wife Crista felt the same Rick brought up some old stories about the author Which did not concerned me because it was media story I saw resentment in his eyes even though he had a happy smile His wife was furious too about the German Chancellor helping refugees but she had a longingness in her eyes and she wanted to go back home but her American husband had her bound We talked about Britain but they did not criticized her They say that she was the only one who could be Prime minister We spoke for a while and the angry woman began to smile A power from the book jumped out at them and the anger immediately turned into a mild friend And they inquired where they could get a copy of the book to buy There is something about the book what happened It connects with the universe, It touches heart and soul and it makes the body whole it turned a frown into a smile it plays tick tack on the mind I bid them goodbye and walked along the trail Wasted park wasted land no business no tourist on the land Yellow and green trees standing clean Yellow and green trees making way for my dream The birds locked tightly in a meeting I could hear them arguing and screaming and his voice echoing from the mountain top It traveled through the distance until it made a stop He made a loud scream and the sound slowly fades away The grey clouds spreads its mystics over the sky A baby hanging from her mothers chest with a pink sweater over her head crossed in front of me She stretched out her little hands calling me Yellow and green trees blowing in the breeze Yellow leaves waving to the crowd But the grandeur of the golden tree among them stood out and the dolesome cloud was forced to bow out.
