It's What's On the Inside
I’m not a pretty gal and I wonder why, As I sit here looking at several magazines. I’ve always been kind of skinny and a little bit shy. I don’t know how these girls do it, being beauty queens. When I look in the mirror, I still see pigtails and glasses. My mother always told me what’s important is on the inside. But I notice that it’s usually the opinion of the masses That the better a girl looks, the easier her lifelong ride. I’ve had a good life and there’s nothing I regret. There have been ups and downs, but nothing too bad. I have a great family and there are many people I’ve met, But sometimes I wish that needing good looks were a fad. As I get older, I realize that looks aren’t everything, And I know that, in reality, I have a good heart. I’m sure my other talents, such as the ability to sing, Will, sometime down the road, play a big part. For now, I suppose, I’m content on being me. I only think about beauty every now and again. I have a lifetime to live and many places to see. After all, I’m just a little girl; I’m only ten.
