Built To Win
I come from a place where they told me I wouldn't make it out I ignored their words and faced the doubt I carried on walking no matter how bad the storm got I quickly learned, some of the coldest days just won't have a warm spot I travelled alone because I didn't trust a soul The world on my shoulders wasn't too much to hold I refused to buckle under the weight Going to school and being bullied in a number of ways Laughed at for carrying a pen and pad inside my backpack The self-harming loner who doesn't know where his dad's at Just a few of the reasons I was picked on Forget the Cool and nerd Tables, I didn't have a table to sit on I'd imagine my dad picking me up at the school gates Instead I was picked up by social workers who were paid to care What kind of man isn't there for his son to erase his tears? I was a good kid, who on occasion didn't follow what the rules state Depression arrived in my early teens, I couldn't refuse it I'd sit in my room and blast Eminem's music Battling demons that people older than me would struggle with Too prideful to ask for help, even for the things I had trouble with My dads death was no different to any other passing When I cried, I knew there would be many others laughing I knew that my story had a lot of ripped pages But sometimes the best stars don't perform on big stages I've been through the worst but I'm still here I made it out of the storm and killed fear I refuse to be judged by anyone who hasn't worn my shoes I'm built to win even if they thought I was born to lose
