Tomorrow Will Come
I see your silhouette through my window caught by the moon's light on the far hill Where you sit...alone, where the stone seat is Once, we were lovers You live on the cobbled road in a big house where the stone gates are...and I above the shop where my father makes shoes I still carry scars from when our love was young innocent and fragile You gave me your heart, though I was far beneath your station in society This summer was alive, We picked fragrant flowers taking turns placing them in our hair We covered every unseen meadow and swam naked in the lake that lays below the farthest hill where the large stones are under the elm that gave us shade and comfort from the day It stormed the last time I saw you The deep sadness etched in your face the silent scream covered in tears your fists pounding on your father's chest as stroke after stroke from his foreman's whip cut deep in my back, ripping away flesh screaming the words " you don't belong " My blood flowed that day as I lay in the rain for hours unable to move...balled up, while the ground ran red mixing with the mud Over the months my wounds have healed Scars remain...tattooed reminders I look out my window and see your silhouette in the moon's light, alone and haunting Tomorrow I'm going to run to you so we can escape and find our own horizon And once again exchange flowers in our hair without fear Tomorrow my love, Tomorrow For now, I notice it's starting to rain I'll close my window and look at the empty seat on the hill and count the raindrops as they hit my window pane as I keep repeating... Tomorrow 9/26/17 contest Love for Movie Screens
