Not So Barren
Upon the barren rocks, I stood, and gazed far out to sea, And watched white horses, racing in, to dissipate in frothy spew, against the craggy lea, The raging clouds, the pregnant pause, Waves, bursting, in tempestuous force, More followed and it seemed to be increasing in ferocity. Though frightening, in its aspect, and as the wind Chill blew, Natures Seeming wildness, brought order to the view. I could have Stood for hours, a witness to the scene, But life and strife, plus distance ran, forbade I Stand and Stare. I will return, I will come back, but now off home, to those who Care, Warm greetings and a fiery Hearth, for tea, some ham that’s lean. A cuddle from the wife, is nice and so is your own arm chair, To snooze contentedly the while, you dream of where you’ve been.
