Crossbows At Dawn
Face to face we stood on that great house lawn My challenge for a duel accepted I have no fear, I have to do this All other options have been rejected The sky is grey, it’s barely light Grass glistens with the morning dew Expectant faces fill the leaded windows Hoping for a clear view My enemy is quite a giant He stands over two metres high A wild reputation precedes this man But I will cause his final sigh You shoot on ten, my second calls From his place beside the mound My arrow beats my opponents And drops him on the wet ground He tries to fire when he is down But his wound does hinder his aim He will not kill anymore For it is him that has been slain And so his end is coming fast It happened out on that wet lawn At least all know what happens now When I say, crossbows at dawn
