He’s the one made of pure pine, the one who never had a real name- I guess I always thought he was fine, but since his lover died, he’s not the same. She used to walk, link by lonely link, along the curvature of the span- She’d cry to him, laugh and think, oh, that beautiful sweet Leanne. He covered her from the weary rain, gave her comfort in times of need- Embraced her every woeful pain, and to an emerald field, he did lead. This covered bridge was lonely too, but together they became mates- And after all that they’d been through, I guess Leanne dying was his fate. August 27, 2017
