''Hot Summer Day''
Oh, my sweet Grandma was a real great storyteller, she could weave a story a thousand different ways, she repeated herself a lot but we would never tell her, one story, I liked was when she was a kid; and it rained for days and the street was like a lake. After the rain stopped it got hot, hot, well it was July, and a lot of the kids on the street took advantage; of the street lake and got their bathing suits for a swim, she said, it was so amazing and people watched; all afternoon they splashed around in the cool water. She said, her Ma saw her and started to loudly yell, from the apartment window to get out of the water; but my Grandma just pretended not to hear her, I think, I inherited that skill, anyways finally; her Ma came down to yank her out but could not get hold. Anyways, it was a obviously a happy memory for Grandma, she would tell the story laughing on hot summer days; when we were complaining about the heat, and we would, wish that it would rain and make our street a lake; like Grandma's story . . . (Mother said she made it up!!) _________________________ August 25, 2017 Poetry/Verse/"Hot Summer Day" Copyright Protected, ID 17-933-769-0 All Rights Reserved. Written under Pseudonym.
