Take It Back
You say that life is hard, And that you want to quit, Job pushes you too far, You can’t take all the grit. Tell me you want some security, Worth forsaking you love for me, Settle with him, but it’s fantasy, Stand up girl, get off your knees! Take it back. I don’t make enough you say, I’m not the ‘kind’ you seek, But will he ever match that night Of sweet love on the peak. You tell me he protects you now, From being poor, well, take a bow! His actions say it all quite loud Without money he wouldn’t know how! Take it back. This world is so unkind, Got to grab what you can take, Some day I hope you find Some spine for heaven’s sake. You say we still can ‘slip away,’ Sorry, I don’t play that game, Not second to some rich man’s need Sorry I can’t match his speed. Take it back. I should’ve predicted this all, Should have seen it coming, You never had the balls To take a risk on anything. You think you’ve bought a perfect life, Free of struggle, work, or strife, Content to be some rich fool’s wife, But devoid of love, a twisting knife. Take it back.
