The Stranger
Stranger: "Who are you?" Poet: "I am a poet!" S.:"Where do you get your ideas from?" P.:"From the Muse of course." S.: "Is Muse a friend of yours?" P.: "I think she is since never has stopped inspiring me." S.: "Very well! Tell me one more thing, please!" P.: "Gladly!" S.: "Does Muse consider you a friend of hers?" P.: "She must, otherwise wouldn't be around me for that long." S.: "Do friends betray friends?" P.: "Certainly not!" S.: "Then if we see someone writing things of hate would we consider him a friend or a foe?" P.: "A foe for sure!" S.: "In that case does this person have the right to call himself a poet?" P.: "No, how could he?" S.: "Why not?" P.: "Because he promotes strife and not harmony and beauty that poetry represents!" S.: "Excellently my friend. Now I will leave you in peace." Poet: "You have not even told me your name." Stranger: "I am the Muse!" © Demetrios Trifiatis 07 August 2017 *The form of the dialogue is inspired by Plato's dialogues. The stranger is the Muse from the beginning to the end! ** I know with my today's poems I might provoke some people but my purpose is to play the role of a peacemaker knowing very well what the lot of peacemakers is. Recently, a friend wrote to me to let me know that leaves PS because there is a lot of bickering going on. In the past many other good people told me the same thing. I always advise them to stay for our poetic family is the microcosm of our world, especially PoetrySoup that includes people of all races, colors and creeds. We should not run away but we should stay together and work together despite our differences so we can give the example to the rest of the world of a harmonious society!
