Fallen Angel
Seraphim of darkness, banished from Heaven. Her black feathers shimmer in the tempest leaven. Radiant against the midnight sky, causes the world to wonder as reflections cast from lightning and the thunder. She weeps alone, as she walks in youthful beauty in the empty land of Purgatory, her life duty. Her nightmares and torture she suffered that were her own. Her sins were hers, for her alone. Her soul sent to care for humankind for all eternity, her only sin, to love deeply with its wonderful serenity. A scarlet rose she holds as a petal falls amid her tears, letting her mind drifts back to another time allowing her lover to appear. His scent would lull her, as he used to cup her face, while she wrapped her wings around her lover in a faint embrace. Lost in the darkness of each other’s gaze, only to be driven for a while, as the world melted away leaving just the two of them in heaven. She weeps alone, holding a scarlet rose, reminded that she was drawn to love a human man not too long ago. Now her lover is gone. 8/7/2017 - Poetry Contest: Fallen Angel Sponsored by: Laura Loo
