Halo
The music video is more or less a continuation to the poem. So please play it when cued in the poem text and continue enjoying the music and lyrics. Another bar unceremoniously has ‘asked’ him to leave His limits he knows - to stupefy with liquor is his goal yet Her face haunting his sleepless night yet again - he can’t conceive He must anesthetize his brain of her loving memories to forget He’s on a path of destruction - a state he cannot shake Try as he may he faces dark despair, an insurmountable wall His work in crisis, crucial decisions he cannot make To clear the grey clouds he seeks ‘solace’, in the depths of alcohol He stumbles into a bar that’s a blast from past days A musty smell assaults his nostrils as he shoves through the ingress Orange and brown 70s décor - opposing colors through smoky haze Décor no option - seeks intoxication to take him to his abyss Like a man seeking survival he stumbles on unsteady feet A beautiful barmaid hurries over - he rudely indicates with a grunt Tosses a tenner on the counter and orders a double scotch neat And tells her to keep them coming till he’s almost blind drunk She looks into his eyes as she hands him his drink and change Though intoxicated he feels her power probes his soul Shards of ice in crystal blue, contempt evident in her withering gaze Thinks he…’ ‘A classy looking dame acting the Diva in this dingy hole?’ On this sweltering night, near his bed he senses a presence The moonlight streaming through the window snaps him awake A woman - Even with closed eyes he knows her permeating essence Reawakened urges makes him do a double take A different woman though - he struggles to drag back a memory He knows her from somewhere - his inebriated brain still a blur Piercing blue eyes not of ice, emphatic, inviting, bewitchingly sensory An aspiration in the whisper of the night his mind to concur She comes to his dreams surrounded in light night after night An Angel’s touch - Sensory overload- an Erotic Rippling Wave A visual perception a window into his soul in view and full sight Breaking down walls of sad memories he had futilely tried to save Please play video clip now A day comes he has an urge to meet her - clear headed - face to face With a rose behind his back, he shyly approaches the bar Straight from work in his best suit, completely sober every hair in place She smiles, her eyes now warm and welcoming from afar She’s the projected apparition in his dreams He knows he’s come Home Music video and vocal by Mark Vincent, a brilliant 23 year old Australian singer, performing Halo.
