The Blame, Is Mine
The occurrence of darkness; a peril created A wait to safety, disturbed by immorality Red streaks that watched, pounced Defences attempted in vain, to injure A cowardly sprint, leaving a courageous spirit grounded. Blame shifts, before a word is heard Comment I offer little, for my conscience is worn An act of desperation does not excuse an act of choice Alone I left you, to cling onto another The perpetrator hurt you; I was no different. A kick you had landed, offering minimal reprieve The faze settled rapidly, as a grasp became a push An item taken, an intent accomplished The bystander that watched, acted only to depart Your life in danger, because of a claimed care. Comfort could not be offered, to adrenaline Marked palms had only increased your might A document signed to the incompetent Your unsteadiness, evoking atrocious smirks from protectors My duty to you failed, to criticize others. Clarity is found, through replayed thoughts The scars beneath, show trauma Decisions made poorly, a prelude The conveyance of the message, causing my arms to tighten Water that thickens; blood that thins.
