Tender breezes swaying palms, The watercolor heavens above, A splendor I have grown to love, Defiled now with legs and arms. A battle we've been told we "won", Though before me lays no victory, Just bodies buoyed by bloody seas, Boys whose lives had bare begun. How ambiguous, this horrid sight, A beauty here that takes my breath, Yet it holds now only horror, death ... Thus justified, man's twisted might.
