Loving Another Man
Whoa! I’m not gay (though gay's OK by me), Unlike Trump, gays aren't killing the planet! They’re smarter than average, my cup of tea, And their heads are not thicker than granite. Gays that I know are quite likable too, I think many could live in a vacuum, Their home is world peopled by Pepé Le Pew, (1) Pew's believe their worst foibles are perfume. So sad some feel that it’s wrong to love men As if love for your brother is sinful, And screw anyone who says love’s just sex twin, Doesn’t this make Christ’s death seem distasteful? Where is the love watching Football with friends? Can you share? Night she left you were dying, That pain in her voice shattered hope of amends, Still, can’t think of her smile without crying. You share your heart even if there's no love? In your weakness, how could men respect you? You double your loss then if push comes to shove, But is stuffing it serving the long view? Feelings are relative if you believe In your right, both to have and to share them, And friends who will listen can some doubt relieve, For their love takes the edge off postmortem. Meet with respect ANY love that you find, Do not judge - wrong from man, right from woman, For feelings that flow all bring peace to one’s mind, Giving aid to both Christian and Roman. Brian Johnston July 9, 2017 Poet's Notes: If you think that this poem is about sex in any fashion, you really don't understand it. It is about the idea that men should be OK having feelings of love for other men! (1) Pepé Le Pew - For some fun google this cartoon character!
