Clock Watching
Clock Watching Stare blankly at a Clock And watch time stop On clockwise finger's As seconds linger Into Day's and Month's And when you wake From the tick and tock Of the body's clock Your face will appear older The Winters colder And what has seemed a solitary minute Has come to pass A life in sections We choose to remember In broken memories Once Upon a time When time seemed a plenty And not an entry In a hard backed diary Of Wenses Las And Christmas presents Wrapped up in paper That has long been recycled Into AA batteries of childhood toy's That many a young boy wished to share With the surly bad girl Who plays on his street In ribbon ponytails That every Day In windy May To counting clocks his heart then stopped In fails and blushes As she hopelessly crushes His strange advances Skipping rope and making dances On the same old clock's And run down street Where what's elapsed Has yet to meet The Boy and Girl Who yesterday Divorced whence Married And are still praying for time
