Calvary On His Mind
CALVARY ON HIS MIND From the dawning of creation, from the very start of time, God was planning our salvation; He had Calvary on His mind. For He knew that man would falter when He’d given him the choice, And He knew he’d need an altar where the man could hear His voice. Since God wanted man to love Him not by force, He so designed That His Son would shed His blood then; He had Calvary on His mind. And His Son was very willing the pure sacrifice to be, All requirements there fulfilling as God’s lamb for you and me. When man fell in the beginning, God was loving and so kind, Gave him sacrifice for sinning; He had Calvary on His mind. All the rams and lambs they offered only covered then mankind, But a new lamb God would proffer; He had Calvary on His mind. Then one day there in a manger came this Savior so Divine; To His own He was a stranger, He had Calvary on His mind. All through life Christ knew His mission, and He spoke in words so kind Of His purpose and His vision; He had Calvary on His mind. Then one day came when He died there, on the cross He there was raised, And forsaken, Jesus cried there as the price of sin He paid. Then He rose and God received it, all sin’s debt was paid for aye, And to all who have believed it He has cleansed their sins away. I’m so glad that Christ was willing to come down to earth to die, All the prophecies fulfilling just to save a wretch like I. Help me, Lord, now to be living in your will so pure, Divine. Make me patient and forgiving; Lord, keep Calvary on my mind.
