Frightened
Frightened Sarah sits alone in her bedroom She thinks that no-one understands Being picked on every day at school By girls she used to class as friends Lying awake in bed every night Dreading the next morning Constantly getting told off in class For being tired out and always yawning Her parents haven't time to listen And they call her a drama queen They know nothing about what she's had to endure Or the terrible things she has seen Often times she's hidden in toilets Listening to younger girls getting battered By the time it's brought to a teacher's attention The bullies have already scattered They sit in the classroom looking so smug Because they get away with so much The school says they have zero tolerance But they're so out of touch If by chance, Sarah is tending her wounds And by her mother she is caught She quickly thinks up an excuse And says it happened while playing sport Sarah's school work is suffering And her marks are at an all-time low The headmaster writes to her parents And suggests a Psychologist but Sarah won't go The bullies loiter at the school gates And follow their victims home Some are only half their size And are afraid to walk home alone Sarah has begun to self-harm She finds it a release for all of her pain She hides the cuts from her parents If the bullying stops, she won't do it again One day she confides in her only friend Who's dad is a methodist preacher Reverend Dunn realises the bullying has got out of hand And suggests Sarah reports it to a teacher Sarah knows that is a waste of time The ringleader is 'Teacher's Pet' But she realises something must be done How much worse could things get? The reverend talks to the teacher And she says she'll deal with the matter Whilst he's talking in the office Outside the door he can hear the bullies chatter He's heard them mention Sarah's name So he opens up the door He tells them he knows of the bullying And makes sure they know the score The bullies are lost for words The look on their faces says it all There's nothing better than confronting them To make the bullies feel small The bullies have been on a final warning And now their time has run out They are going to be expelled Of that there is no doubt When the reverend told Sarah Tears welled up in her eyes The news that her ordeal was over Had come as a huge surprise Sarah happily returned to school And now no longer lived in fear The bullies were moved to another school But found another poor victim I hear
