Spoils of the Victor
Was listening to the 23d Psalm as we read it at St. James Episcopal Church in Shallotte, NC. Went to Arbor Landing and attended Poetry Revisited that afternoon. I could detect a sense of depression present there. Wrote following poem based on these actions. Spoils of the Victor When she lost was such a sad and lonely day; Hopes and dreams about Hillary had faded away, And them, so much self-pity was found upon; Her victory spoils disappeared and were all gone. Now each one of the spoils had become spoiled, While being dirty, disarranged and badly soiled; There is always a huge as well as a severe cost Causing our pride and confidence to be lost. This past Sunday to me had recently occurred. A thought of Christ being our good she[herd, And after seriously talking to His herd of sheep, From them never heard a sound or single peep. They wanted to hear each word Jesus had to say Removing doubt, discouragement and dismay; Remember, you each will always be my little lamb And your savior sent from heaven yes I am. Forget about fools and should start trusting in me, And I will preserve all of your sanity and security; Forever and ever in heaven you will remain Where all of your souls are safe and stay sane.
