May Showers Remind Me of You
It’s sprinkling again, guess it’s that time of year- But every now and then it makes me shed a tear. And in the drops falling I feel you further from my side, I think of the month where you closed your eyes and died. It was the third of the month, actually a Saturday- A day of rain showers, unusual for the month of May. The grey in the clouds held a sadness, as did I, maybe cuz’ they lost their sun and had to darken and cry. The lilacs blossomed and the lilies barely bloomed, but I picked three pink ones placed them gently on your tomb. I’ll never forget the scent of rain pouring on your casket, but just then in the corner of my eye I saw a flowered basket. It held white roses, baby breath and blue carnations- In honor of your life, for you were a God-given creation. And pinned inside a note from your husband Joe, it said how much he loved you and wished you didn’t have to go. Salt pouring from my eyes was disguised by the rain- But I had a gentle feeling the sky could feel my pain. See, life hasn’t been the same since you passed away, that’s why I am reminded of you… during the rain showers in May. May 6, 2017
