I have some friends and comrades here, They, like me, here in this foreign land Living each day with hope and fear, Serving our country, Uncle Sam. It gets quite lonely so far away, Here in a culture, different and strange, Yet when I know those who still pray, All of my cares seem to rearrange. Fighting for freedom for those who protest? Long, tiring hours here on the field? I cannot do other than just do my best, Not to the negative feelings to yield.
