The Fear of Loneliness
I think that you love me; I still fear loneliness. I feel God's soft rapport; I still fear loneliness, So many blessings, always needed shade, One foot in heaven, seem to have it made, But deep inside my soul; I still fear loneliness! Friends call or lean on me; I still fear loneliness. My family's support; I still fear loneliness. Still got some hair and age befitting health, Concern of loving friends and ample wealth, Against star-swarming night; I still fear loneliness! When days abound with cheer; I still fear loneliness. Sunsets (and frosty beer); I still fear loneliness. Does guilt explain the emptiness I feel, Is fault the cause of pain that seems so real? Though God is lonely too? I still fear loneliness! Man made in God's image; should I fear loneliness? Christ's death, sadness He shared; should I fear loneliness? A child of God! Are feelings ALL divine? The branch bears fruit; its genes spring from true vine. Though I lose breath and rhyme; I share God's loneliness! Long Tooth May 1, 2017
