The Anthem's Message
THE ANTHEM’S MESSAGE I stood there at attention, the flag was flying high, I heard the anthem’s message, and I began to cry. I thought about the battles, the many who have fought To save the cause of freedom to this land which they brought. There’s something in my bosom that causes tears to flow When I think about my country and what I see and know. There seems to be so few now who realize this place And the freedom we’re enjoying is only by God’s grace. For He looks down from heaven and sees the flag fly high, But as He sees our people, I’m sure He starts to cry. He sees a thankless people to whom this land He gave Who wickedness will fight for in the home of the brave. They’d rather not allow Him and all His followers true To proclaim His clear message of what they ought to do. They’d rather through their plunder doom our land to sure fate With all their evil prattle, “Separation of church and state.” Will everyone stay quiet for just a little time And hear the anthem’s message, the last words keep in mind? For us to keep our freedom, we simply always must Remember our great motto that says, “In God We Trust.” The road to real freedom is paved with these words true-- The simple anthem’s message proclaimed to me and you. We must get back to living the way that God has planned If we would keep our freedom in this our native land.
