To My Walls and Words
This is how it ends. Without a drop of blood, I cannot write, Without clouding my fears, I cannot write, Without choking my voice, I cannot write, Without my dancing fingers, I cannot write, Without you hurting me, I cannot write. Familiar walls, where are you? Late night muffled banter And a mind full of flies Buzzing a new thought, disturbing my calm I would explode, Without a taste on my lips, Or outlandish skin entangling me. Waiting like a chorus of a favourite song Smeared with memories that never happened My homeless thoughts are haywire… What is it that will bring me to love? Something more than a confounded ocean, A hapless night sky, The fog of wilderness, Or a crazy butterfly? What is it that will bring me to love Someone? Again. Familiar walls, I remember you with all of my heart, Don’t be weak, don’t let me break you for that someone, Words woven together will never be forgotten, But they will be.
