Walking Past Your Garden
Walking past your garden When it was autumn´s end, Withered leaves spread across Cobbled pathways that bend; I spied a single leaf Upon a maple high, Trembling in gentle breeze Beckoning the dusk nigh; Pausing for moments long I saw it tumble down, Straight upon my shoulder Its texture withered brown; Did an omen befall? With its stark fragile blade, That I may plead my love Before the fall could fade; I searched for a blossom There was none I could find, I was filled with remorse Dark tidings in my mind; Lo! In the fading light An Azalea stood, Dainty in its blueness And then I understood; I plucked its tenderness And found it laced with dew, I smelt its fragrance sweet And knew it was for you; The last bloom in autumn Had come upon my way, It made my heart whisper My love would bloom someday. ***********
