A Child In Heaven
A CHILD IN HEAVEN How old will my dear child be when she reaches heaven’s shore? We may not know the answer now, but she’ll be a child no more. She won’t know of the sorrows here adults know every day, And she’ll have a golden mansion there along the golden way. She won’t get to have a family here with children of her own, But she’ll meet so many others there who never were here grown. She’ll miss the days on earth to play, but there can’t hurt or fall, And all who ever went before will be friends she can call. Though children there will be adults, how old we may not know, If they have trusted in the Lord, they’ll sure to heaven go. And we will see them all again and still we’ll know their face, For God protects a little child before they’re saved by grace. And when that child is old enough to trust in Jesus’ love, He builds a mansion there and then in His bright home above. So reach to heaven’s shore, my friend, as tears now you may cry, A child in heaven waits to see you there with them on high. Just come to Him in childlike faith in the story every true, And you will see that child again when Jesus comes for you. --This poem can be used for either gender by changing pronouns.
