As Told To Me
Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction, miraculous events occur that defy logic One such story was told to me by someone labeled as mentally sick This is what I heard, this is what was told to me This is the way it went down, according to eyewitness testimony He wasn't your typical hero, she wasn't your textbook heroine They were just simply the right people at the wrong place Proximity variables vectoring the spatial divine He was a dopefiend, she was a prostitute They both were trying to hit a lick that night, get their hands on a little loot This is what I heard, this is what was told to me This is the way it went down, according to eyewitness testimony He was walking down one side of the street, she was coming his way from the other side of the street Intersection of two lost souls were about to again meet, when a huge burst of flames erupted suddenly They were both equidistance from the scene of this calamity When they heard a wailing cry: "My baby is trapped inside!" This is what I heard, this is what was told to me This is the way it went down, according to eyewitness testimony The dopefiend rushed in without giving a second thought Ignoring the fire raging, he ran to the cries as the smoke he fought While the prostitute comforted the mother outside, told her the man who ran in was a street acquaintance That he always came through when you needed him to, and her child was gonna be fine, to just give faith a little time This is what I heard, this is what was told to me This is the way it went down, according to eyewitness testimony The dopefiend smashed through the upstairs door, grabbed the frightened child and looked about ... he calculated with certainty there was no way out With the flames at his back, he prayed the prayer of the poor Hoping that God would hear his cry for help, though he hadn't prayed in a very long time himself Then a mighty wind rushed in from somewhere below, and the hungry fire inexplicably followed This is what I heard, this is what was told to me This is the way it went down, according to eyewitness testimony All the windows in the house were shut and had bars, yet a small black cloud was floating in the hallway Going swiftly towards an upstairs outside door, where the flames incredulously had not gone that way A path had been opened to them somehow, and the dopefiend rushed out with the child As the prostitute and the mother both smiled, their prayers had been answered from the heavenly clouds This is what I heard, this is what was told to me This is the way it went down, according to eyewitness testimony Believe it or not if you want to; check the facts, and verify the date The man who told this story to me, is my new homeless shelter roommate
