Why 13 Tops My Wedding Cake
WHY 13 TOPS MY WEDDING CAKE A cherubim approaches the celebratory podium, a fifteen tier cake in her congratulatory hands. The pews, full of spectators - ready for a heavenly slice, fragrant oil poured from above, stirs hearts where it lands. Our cherubim patiently slices vanilla - tier number one, with chocolate and kindness, tier number two. Don’t envy the decadence of tier number three. The fourth tier is kept hush hushed for the few. Likewise, the fifth humbly accepts smaller checkerboard slices. The sixth tier keeps their cheesecake manners in check. The seventh enjoy each delicious bite their neighbors indulge. Tier eight’s saved for the forgiving with a cherry kiss peck. The ninth tier is quite a funny surprise, for tis like a scroll. It reminds me of sugar cookie dough – nothing written upon it. A permanent ink pen on the table – kept sealed, It was accepted this was edible ink – a prune kit. The next guests on the list enjoy a slice of ugly cake. The truth of this tenth tier - quite delicious and sweet. Fondant protects and vividly displays emotion in memories - this eleventh tier makes the bride and groom hearts beat. The two different flavors – citrusy lemon and orange, The beautiful bride, and handsome groom, feed to each other. They’ve waited for this hour to show their love. Tier twelve will be faithful, not smother! This dynamic duo hold hands, and watch with gleeful eyes. Number thirteen after all, holds no curse. The life before them flashes with confetti sprinkles, this marriage of theirs - for better or worse. Oh, those guests who’ve waited for the bottomless tiers! For number fourteen, they sit up straight, press a smile. How blessed they are to receive a Dobos Torte – a treat. For indeed, preparation for such a cake, takes a while. Finally fifteen, not sunken in, no sink or swim. Funny, how this lowest level, rises highest to the occasion. So sweet, so decadent, perfect chocolate - that never fails. All fifteen tiers meted out, love ~ the pervasion. 1/10/2017 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, Always perseveres. Love never fails 1 Cor 13: 4 – 5a (NIV) Often read at Christian weddings
