Heartache On the Hills
Many years had passed since we’d climbed these verdant hills on our first date. It was a very special place for us and held such precious memories We had visited on every wedding anniversary for the last twenty years, now we were finally retracing our steps. you’d carved both our names on the stump of an old oak true love never dies I stared out into the distance and surveyed the stunning scenery, green fields spread in front of us like a massive patchwork quilt which blanketed the ground A chill breeze was blowing and I snuggled into my warm coat, and I held on to you so tightly as we made our final ascent we’d shared our first kiss as we lay on the soft grass - timeless memories My heart felt so heavy as we went on our last journey together. It is six months since cancer stole you away from me… It was your dying wish to remain on the hills where we first found love. Tears filled my eyes; I looked up to heaven then scattered your ashes and slowly made my descent without you. as the sun goes down I said my final goodbye my heart is broken Choose a topic Contest Sponsored by Russell Sivey Theme 4 chosen - heartbreak and loss 02~08~17
